We are thrilled to report the successful outcome of a highly unusual case which our commercial litigation department steered through the Supreme Court earlier this year.

After two full days of heated argument between QCs on both sides, Lord Neuberger and four other judges sitting in the highest court in the land agreed that a dispute over the status of the leader of a branch of the Sikh faith was one which should be dealt with by the UK courts and overturned the contrary decision of the Court of Appeal.

Brian Addlestone comments: “This was an amazing experience, hard work but extremely intellectually rewarding and it was fascinating to hear the biggest legal brains in the country debating a complex area of the law. It was nerve racking waiting nearly 4 months for the Judgment but a great feeling when it arrived to see we had won!”
