The commercial property department acted on behalf of Prospect Estates in their sale of a multi-million pound portfolio of properties totalling some 640,000 square feet of industrial and offices premises to HIG Bauer Property.
Since the sale, Prospect have continued their acquisitions, purchasing Greenfield Industrial Estate Bishop Auckland, a unit at Cold Hesledon Industrial Estate, Provincial House in Bolton, Haverton Hill Billingham and Douro House Stockport all since the disposition. David Evans acted on the portfolio sale and each of the acquisitions.
We are thrilled to report the successful outcome of a highly unusual case which our commercial litigation department steered through the Supreme Court earlier this year.
After two full days of heated argument between QCs on both sides, Lord Neuberger and four other judges sitting in the highest court in the land agreed that a dispute over the status of the leader of a branch of the Sikh faith was one which should be dealt with by the UK courts and overturned the contrary decision of the Court of Appeal.
Brian Addlestone comments: “This was an amazing experience, hard work but extremely intellectually rewarding and it was fascinating to hear the biggest legal brains in the country debating a complex area of the law. It was nerve racking waiting nearly 4 months for the Judgment but a great feeling when it arrived to see we had won!”

Our Commercial Property Department has just completed a lease for an exciting new restaurant in Leeds City Centre. Red’s True Barbecue have taken 2,590 sq ft of prime retail space at 1 Cloth Hall Street (formerly occupied by Venture Photography) to house the first of their authentic US BBQ smokehouses. Red’s is the brain child of James Douglas and Scott Munro, two local entrepreneurs who aim to bring a taste of American BBQ to Leeds with their prime cuts of locally sourced meat smoked low n slow for up to 18 hours over hickory and fruitwoods inside their custom made and specially imported Oklahoman smokers. The transaction was headed by Sally Roberts.
